PRAYER OF THE DAY: For the sake of others and for ourselves we come to you O Lord.  We seek your touch that brings healing and peace.  We seek you.  Hear us.  Touch us.  Heal us.  Send us.  In Jesus Christ.  Amen.

FIRST READING:  2 Samuel 1:1, 17-27
1After the death of Saul, David returned from defeating the Amalekites and stayed in Ziklag two days.  17David took up this lament concerning Saul and his son Jonathan, 18and ordered that the men of Judah be taught this lament of the bow (it is written in the Book of Jashar): 19"Your glory, O Israel, lies slain on your heights. How the mighty have fallen!  20"Tell it not in Gath, proclaim it not in the streets of Ashkelon, lest the daughters of the Philistines be glad, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised rejoice.  21"O mountains of Gilboa, may you have neither dew nor rain, nor fields that yield offerings of grain. For there the shield of the mighty was defiled, the shield of Saul--no longer rubbed with oil.  22From the blood of the slain, from the flesh of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan did not turn back, the sword of Saul did not return unsatisfied.  23"Saul and Jonathan-- in life they were loved and gracious, and in death they were not parted. They were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.  24"O daughters of Israel, weep for Saul, who clothed you in scarlet and finery, who adorned your garments with ornaments of gold.  25"How the mighty have fallen in battle! Jonathan lies slain on your heights.  26I grieve for you, Jonathan my brother; you were very dear to me. Your love for me was wonderful, more wonderful than that of women.  27"How the mighty have fallen! The weapons of war have perished!"

Psalm 130
1     Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD;
2     O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.
3     If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand?
4     But with you there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared.
5     I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope.
6     My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more
than watchmen wait for the morning.
7     O Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him
       is full redemption.
8     He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins.

Second Reading:  2 Corinthians 8:1-7
1And now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches.  2Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.  3For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, 4they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints.  5And they did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God's will.  6So we urged Titus, since he had earlier made a beginning, to bring also to completion this act of grace on your part.  7But just as you excel in everything--in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us --see that you also excel in this grace of giving.

THE HOLY GOSPEL:  Mark 5:24b-34
24A large crowd followed and pressed around him.  25And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years.  26She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.  27When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed."  29Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.  30At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?"  31"You see the people crowding against you," his disciples answered, "and yet you can ask, 'Who touched me?'"  32But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it.  33Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth.  34He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."

To all of our church family,
Thank you so much for all of your thoughts and prayers over the past four and a half months.  We are happy to let you know that Jurg has found a new job and it will allow us to remain in our current home.  The support we received from everyone here at St. Johns helped us to get through a very difficult time.
Yours truly,
Jurg and Leslie Hauptli

In our continuing efforts to “Go Green” and save money too, we would appreciate you using one communion card per family.  Simply note the names on that card of the people who took communion. Thank you kindly.
Saturday Worship Action Team (SWAT):
Do you enjoy Saturday night worship? Are you interested in how this service functions; or, would you like some changes made? The SWAT members meet every 2 months for
approximately 1/2 hour after a Saturday service. Working with the team does not require much of your time and it's easy! Each person takes a turn "ushering" a service and always with another team member. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Mark.
Our next meeting is June 27th - hope to see you there!

Do you have a vacuum cleaner with attachments, or a cordless sweeper that you are going to get rid of or replace?  If so, we could really use these items around the church to help keep the place ship shape!  Please let us know if you are able to help with this request.
Thank you to Barb Curtis for donating the very nifty dustbuster!!

This year we have two St. John softball teams:  the Saints and the Angels.  Don Schwartz is managing the "older and more experienced" Saints team, while Scott Hudson is managing the new upstart Angels team.  The two softball schedules will be posted in the Gathering Area.  All games start at 7 PM on Thursday evenings.  We invite our fans to come on out to the ball park and watch our games!  Please bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on, as many ball fields do not have any bleachers.

JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE
There are about 200 giving units in our church and if each unit gave an extra $10 each month at the end of the year we would have an additional $24,000.  Please consider a slight increase in your commitment to the ministry here at St. John and help solve our financial problem.
