P: Kyrie eleison:
C: Lord, have mercy.

Lord God, heavenly king, almighty God and Father,
We worship You, we give You thanks, we praise You for Your glory.

Glory to God, glory to God, and peace to God’s people on earth.

PRAYER OF THE DAY:…………………………………………………………  WOV Page 30
P:   The Lord be with you.
C:   And also with you.
P:   Let us pray…
C: Gracious Lord, your love for us is amazing.  It is constant and never ending.  We are to be the instruments of your love, but at times we take roads that lead us away from sharing this wonderful love with others.  Forgive us when we stray, and by the power of your Holy Spirit, lead us back again.   In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

THE WORD OF GOD:  First Lesson:  Proverbs 3:5-10
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.  7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.  8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.  9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

Psalm 25:1-7
1      To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul;

2      in you I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies
        triumph over me.

3      No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame
        who are treacherous without excuse.

4      Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths;

5      guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in
        you all day long.

6      Remember, O LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.

7      Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love
        remember me, for you are good, O LORD.

Second Lesson:  1 Peter 1:10-15
10Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, 11trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.  12It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.  13Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.  14As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.  15But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION (stand): WOV No. 613
C:
Celtic Alleluia

                                            Al – le – lu – ia,  al – le – lu – ia!

         Al – le – lu – ia,  al – le – lu – ia!

P: The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke, beginning in the 10th Chapter.
C: Glory to you, O Lord.

Gospel Lesson:  Luke 10:25-37
25On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"  26"What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?"  27He answered: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind' ; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"  28"You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."  29But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"  30In reply Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead.  31A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.  32So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.  33But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.  34He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him.  35The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'  36"Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"  37The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."

P: The Gospel of the Lord.
C: Praise to you, O Christ.

SERMON:...................................”Love can be detoured.” ....................Pastor Mark Evans

PRAISE HYMN:
“I’ve Got Peace Like A River”

I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got peace like a river, in my soul.

I’ve got love like an ocean, I’ve got love like an ocean,
I’ve got love like an ocean in my soul, in my soul, I’ve got love like an ocean,
I’ve got love like an ocean, I’ve got love like an ocean in my soul.

I’ve got joy like a fountain, I’ve got joy like a fountain,

I’ve got joy like a fountain, I’ve got joy like a fountain in my soul.

APOSTLES' CREED (stand, if you are able): WOV Page 33
C:  I believe in God, the Father almighty,
   Creator of heaven and earth.

  I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
   He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
    and born of the virgin Mary.

   He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
    was crucified, died, and was buried.
   He descended into hell.*
   On the third day he rose again.
   He ascended into heaven,
    and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
   He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
   the holy catholic Church,
   the communion of saints,
   the forgiveness of sins,
   the resurrection of the body,
   and the life everlasting. Amen.

 OFFERING/OFFERTORY: (Stand, if you are able, and sing)…………. LBW 565
C: Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
 Praise Him, all creatures here below;
 Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
 Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

A: Let us pray. Merciful God,
C: we offer with joy and thanksgiving what you have first given us--
 ourselves, our time, and our possessions, signs of your gracious love.
 Receive them for the sake of him who offered himself for us, Jesus Christ
 our Lord.  Amen.

After the updates of the People Concerns, the Congregation will stand and sing together:

PRAYER HYMN:
“We Come to You for Healing, Lord”

We come to you for healing, Lord – of body, mind and soul,
And pray that by your Spirit’s touch – our lives may be made whole.

You touch us through physician’s skills, through nurses’ gifts of care –
And through the love of faithful friends who lift our lives in prayer.

THE PRAYERS (stand, if you are able): WOV Page 34
A: Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus,
 and for all people according to their needs.

Each portion of the prayers concludes with these words:
A: Lord, in your mercy,
C: hear our prayer.

The prayers conclude with these words:
P: Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray,
 trusting in your mercy; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
C: Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER: (Stand if you are able) WOV Page 39
P:  Lord, remember us in your kingdom, and teach us to pray:
C: Our Father, who art in heaven,
   hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come,
   thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
  Give us this day our daily bread;
  and forgive us our trespasses,
   as we forgive those who trespass against us;
  and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
   forever and ever. Amen.
