PRAYER OF THE DAY:…………………………………………………………  WOV Page 30
P:   The Lord be with you.
C:   And also with you.
P:   Let us pray…
C: Gracious Lord, we take great pride in describing our nation as “Land of the Free and Home of the Brave.”  Guide us to the understanding that our spiritual freedom comes from knowing You and what Your Son has done for us.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

THE WORD OF GOD:  First Lesson:  Exodus 14:21-23, 26-29
21Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, 22and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.  23The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh's horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea.  26Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen."  27Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing toward it, and the LORD swept them into the sea.  28The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen--the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them survived.  29But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.

Psalm 47
1     Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.
2     How awesome is the LORD Most High, the great King over all the earth!
3     He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet.
4     He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom he loved.
5     God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the LORD amid the sounding of trumpets.
6     Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.
7     For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise.
8     God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne.
9     The nobles of the nations assemble as the people of the God of Abraham, for the
       kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted.

Second Lesson:  Galatians 5:13-14
13You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.  14The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION (stand): WOV No. 613
C:
Celtic Alleluia

                                            Al – le – lu – ia,  al – le – lu – ia!

         Al – le – lu – ia,  al – le – lu – ia!

P: The Holy Gospel according to St. John, beginning in the 8th Chapter.
C: Glory to you, O Lord.

Gospel Lesson:  John 8:31-33
31To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.  32Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."  33They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?"

P: The Gospel of the Lord.
C: Praise to you, O Christ.

SERMON:........................”That was some kind of fireworks!” .............Pastor Mark Evans

APOSTLES' CREED (stand, if you are able): WOV Page 33
C:  I believe in God, the Father almighty,
   Creator of heaven and earth.
  I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
   He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
    and born of the virgin Mary.
   He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
    was crucified, died, and was buried.
   He descended into hell.*
   On the third day he rose again.
   He ascended into heaven,
    and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
   He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
   the holy catholic Church,
   the communion of saints,
   the forgiveness of sins,
   the resurrection of the body,
   and the life everlasting.  Amen.

OFFERING/OFFERTORY: (Stand, if you are able, and sing)…………. LBW 565

 Praise Him, all creatures here below;
 Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;

A: Let us pray. Merciful God,
C: we offer with joy and thanksgiving what you have first given us--
 ourselves, our time, and our possessions, signs of your gracious love.

 our Lord.  Amen.

July Birthdays

CLOSING HYMN:                       “This Land is Your Land”

Chorus:    This land is your land, this land is my land,
From California to the New York island,
From the redwood forest to the gulf stream waters;
This land was made for you and me.

As I was walking that ribbon of highway
I saw above me that endless skyway;
I saw below me that golden valley.
This land was made for you and me.

Chorus

I’ve roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps
to the sparkling sands of her diamond desserts;
And all around me a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me.

Chorus

When the sun comes shining and I was strolling
and the wheat-fields waving and the dust clouds rolling;
as the fog was lifting a voice was chanting
this land was made for you and me.

Chorus

DISMISSAL:
A: Go in peace. Serve the Lord.
C: Thanks be to God!

MCREST

Just a note to let everyone know that we are no longer participating in the MCREST program.
There have been several changes in administration and processes this year. With these new process changes, your MCREST team, along with our church council, felt we could not abide by the new changes and provide a safe and caring environment. We would like to thank everyone who has given of themselves over the past nine years as we worked to help and change the direction of so many folks.
Pastor Mark has suggested a new direction for all our time and talents - perhaps Samaritan House, Be the Church, or a Soup Supper Saturday program.  Our volunteer options are unlimited. Thank you again for all you have done.
