This is St. John Lutheran Church
St. John Lutheran church is located in the beautiful village of Romeo, Michigan. Our congregation is over 150 years old. We are a healthy mix of long-time members and an infusion of new folks. We draw on our heritage to propel us into the future. We have worked hard to establish a warm, friendly, and accepting atmosphere. You would first experience this in our worship. Our Saturday service, held at 5 pm is very simple and casual. A little music, a little prayer, scripture, sermon and then we celebrate our Lord’s Supper. Sunday services held at 9:30am combine elements of traditional Lutheran worship with contemporary hymns, prayers, and are enriched with excellent music from our bell and voice choirs. Our Sunday school children add to the warmth and friendliness by joining us at the beginning of our 9:30 service.
We have many of the traditional organizations that you would expect from a church steeped in the Lutheran tradition while at the same time we are adding new and innovative ministries. The desire to change and to “Reform” ourselves is in our DNA. Our founder, Martin Luther was a German Monk, Priest and Scholar who came to believe that his church needed to change its ways. Reforms were needed which would enable people to know Jesus. Luther set about to make these changes and as they say: the rest is history.
Here are some of the ways we are reforming and changing. We are a Stephen Ministries congregation where members are trained to help others who are experiencing the loss of a loved one, unemployment or any personal loss. We also reach out to others through Christian service projects such as Samaritan House, and a Halloween Party designed for our younger children in the community.
Finally, as a congregation steeped in the Lutheran tradition, we are deeply aware of the price that our Lord paid through His suffering and death so that we might know the joy of being forgiven sinners. Our God loves us and his love is revealed to us through His Word and the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion.
We now warmly extend an invitation to you to experience for yourself a dedicated and caring church family in worship and fellowship!
